NaTIS Online is South Africa's official electronic portal for the National Traffic Information System (eNaTIS). How to Register on NaTIS Online

You only need to register once. The system uses your South African identity document number as the primary identifier, so the same account ties to your driver's licence record, vehicle ownership history and any future bookings you make.

1. Go to online.natis.gov.za and click Register.
2. Choose your identification type — South African ID, refugee ID or foreign passport. South African citizens use their 13-digit ID number.
3. Capture your full names exactly as they appear on your Smart ID card or green ID book. Spelling mismatches are the single biggest cause of failed registrations.
4. Provide an email address that you can access immediately — the system sends a verification code that expires in minutes.
5. Choose a password of at least eight characters with at least one capital letter, one number and one special character.
6. Click the verification link in the email and log in to confirm.

If your details fail validation, NaTIS Online checks your ID against the Department of Home Affairs database in real time. A common error is that the names captured at registration do not match what Home Affairs has on file. Verify your ID number first and then re-register using the exact spelling on your ID card.

NaTIS Online Services

The portal now covers four core service streams. Each delivers something that previously required a queue at a DLTC or post office.

1. Vehicle Licence Renewal

Booking through the portal does not skip the queue on the day, but it does lock in your test slot at a specific DLTC. 3. Slot Reservation (eQueue)

The Request a Slot tool — sometimes called eQueue — reserves a specific 30-minute window at a chosen DLTC. Slots are released weekly per province, usually on a Monday morning at 08:00, and high-demand offices in Gauteng and the Western Cape can sell out within an hour. Set a calendar reminder.

4. Identity, Records and Minor Crash Reports

You can view a basic NaTIS query card showing your driver status, lookup a vehicle by registration number (within consumer-protection limits) and lodge a minor crash report online. Major crashes still require an AR form completed at a SAPS station.

How to Log In to NaTIS Online

NaTIS Online vs Visiting a DLTC In Person

The portal does not replace the DLTC. You still need to show up in person for any biometric step: photographs, eye tests, fingerprints, paying issue fees on a passed test and collecting your physical card.
