Terms of Use & Sale
Last updated: 5 July 2026
By using idchecker.co.za you agree to these Terms of Use. Part A covers the website and the free checker; Part B is the Terms of Sale for paid verification reports. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Part A — The website and free checker
What the free tool does
The homepage tool is a free, browser-based check of whether a South African ID number conforms to the official format: 13 digits, a valid date-of-birth segment, valid gender and citizenship segments, and a correct Luhn check digit.
What the free tool does NOT do
- It does not query the Department of Home Affairs database.
- It does not confirm an ID number belongs to a real, living person.
- It does not verify identity or, on its own, satisfy KYC or FICA requirements.
- A number that passes is mathematically valid — it may still be fake, unissued, or belong to someone else. For official verification, order a verified report or contact Home Affairs.
Part B — Terms of Sale: verified reports
1. Who you are buying from
Simply Ecommerce (Pty) Ltd, trading as idchecker.co.za.
Registration number: 2021/311363/07
Physical address (also our address for service of legal documents): 89 Roodebloem Road, Woodstock, Cape Town, South Africa.
Email: support@idchecker.co.za · Website: https://idchecker.co.za
2. What you are buying
A once-off, personalised verification report, compiled on demand from official and third-party databases (Department of Home Affairs, CIPC, registered data channels, vehicle registers) through our verification partner VerifyNow (Pty) Ltd, and delivered as a PDF download. Each product page describes exactly what that report contains. We do not sell consumer credit reports or credit scores.
3. Ordering, price and payment
- Prices are displayed in South African Rand, include VAT at the standard rate, and are the full price you pay. Simply Ecommerce is a registered VAT vendor; a tax invoice is available on request from support@idchecker.co.za.
- Before you pay, the checkout shows your full order for review and correction — check the details you entered carefully, because the report is generated from them exactly as entered.
- Payment is processed by our payment provider over encrypted (TLS) connections. We never see or store your card details.
- A record of your transaction (order confirmation and report link) is emailed to you, and remains available through the order link for as long as the report is retained.
4. Delivery
Reports are generated immediately after payment and are typically delivered within minutes, by download link on the order confirmation page and by email. Products marked "Compliance-reviewed" are released after a short manual review, usually within 24 hours. If a report cannot be generated, we re-run it or refund you in full — see the Refund Policy.
5. Cooling-off and cancellation
Because each report is personalised and generated immediately with your consent, the 7-day cooling-off right in section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act does not apply once generation has begun (section 42(2)(d) and (f)). You acknowledge this at checkout. Full details, including when you do get your money back, are in the Refund Policy.
6. Lawful use only
Reports contain personal information protected by POPIA. By ordering you warrant that you are the data subject, or that you have the data subject's voluntary, specific and informed consent (or another lawful basis under POPIA section 11) for the purpose you declare at checkout, and that you will keep proof of it for at least 5 years. You may use a report only for that declared purpose. You may not use our service to stalk, harass, intimidate or discriminate against any person; to build marketing lists or databases; to republish, resell or scrape data; or for any unlawful purpose. Employment-related checks additionally require the candidate's prior consent under the National Credit Act regulations. We may refuse or reverse any order we reasonably suspect breaches this clause, and we may report unlawful requests to the authorities.
7. IMPORTANT — limits of the service and of our liability (please read)
- Reports reflect databases, not absolute truth. A report reproduces what official and third-party databases contained at the moment it was generated. We do not alter that data and cannot warrant that the underlying records are accurate, complete or current. Records change; databases contain errors.
- Assumption of risk: you accept the risk of relying on third-party data, and you should not take adverse action against any person based solely on an automated report.
- Cap: to the extent the Consumer Protection Act allows, our total liability for any claim arising from a report or its use is limited to the price you paid for that report. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for gross negligence, or limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act that cannot lawfully be limited.
- Indemnity: you indemnify Simply Ecommerce and its data providers against claims, losses and fines arising from an untrue consent/authority confirmation you gave, or from your use of a report outside your declared purpose.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy and PAIA Manual describe how personal information is handled, including automatic deletion of generated reports after 30 days.
9. Complaints and disputes
Email support@idchecker.co.za and we'll try to fix it first. Consumer disputes may also be referred to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (cgso.org.za) or the National Consumer Commission. Privacy complaints can go to the Information Regulator (details in the Privacy Policy). These terms are governed by South African law.
10. General
If any clause is unenforceable, the rest stand. We may update these terms; the version on this page at the time of your order applies to that order.
